I just learned that Jump When Ready has been chosen by Shelf Unbound Magazine as one of the 2013 Notable Books for YA fiction for the December/January issue. I'll post a link when the issue comes out. Hey, another thing to be thankful for this year. Just saying...

Kismet...

We saw this the other day on Cary Street. The same van my new characters are driving on their road trip. Dashed across the road to get a photo. You have to love kismet (which is exactly what the novel is about)...

Snippet from the new one...

Still working on the edits but getting close...

We climbed back into the van and Lauren immediately tugged her phone from her pocket. She checked her texts, bounced in her seat and started laughing.
            “What?”

“You don’t want to know,” she said.
            “Come on, just tell me.”
I tried looking at her phone but she switched it to her other hand and held it away. “Only if you promise to remain calm.”
“I’m calm,” I said. “Really. So, where now?”
“Well, let me put it this way. What road trip would be complete if it didn’t involve two coasts?”

900 years of reading

Yes, the Doctor Who thing continues, but here's another line that I love (thanks, Francesca!):

Shakespeare: And you, Sir Doctor. How can a man so young have eyes so old.

The Doctor: I do a lot of reading.

Now available for Nook at Barnes and Noble!

As I mentioned before, Jump When Ready as an ebook was exclusive to Amazon for a while due to being enrolled in KDP Select. To be honest, that exclusivity did expire a little while back but I've been editing a new book and couldn't quite find the time to format the novel for Nook. Regardless, it took a while (my apologies) but Jump When Ready is now available for Nook readers at Barnes and Noble.

Other news

Still working on edits for the new novel. Sorry, it's taking me longer than expected but, as an indie writer, it's that much more important to edit thoroughly. This is my second round of edits and I hope to wrap up by next week and send to beta readers.

Oh, I finally published Jump When Ready to Nook! It's not in the store yet (still processing) but I will definitely post again when it shows in the Barnes and Noble website.

5 Star review on Goodreads today

Nice 5 Star review for Jump on Goodreads today. I really appreciate it when a reader takes the time to post a favorable comment. Here's part of what that reader had to say: "Thought provoking...the type of book that makes you want to read it in one sitting. Like you want to read more than sleep."

Thank you!
